Occupational Summary

The University and Community Talent Acquisition Manager plans and executes the University Recruiting Program and the Community Recruiting Program with the critical goal of delivering top talent in support of both CITY Furniture’s internship programs, full-time positions, and future hiring needs with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I). The University and Community Talent Acquisition Manager partners with the Managing Director of Talent Acquisition and hiring managers companywide to develop an overall university and community recruiting strategy that is aligned with CITY Furniture’s culture of attracting, hiring, and developing top talent as a competitive advantage for the business. The University and Community Talent Acquisition Manager builds and maintains strong relationships with the universities, alumni associations, students, and community partners to identify current and future talent for CITY Furniture. The emphasis of this position is on building a strong reputation within the University and community sectors to create a measurable talent pipeline of candidates to fill positions quickly and with the best candidates.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy

Creates a multi-University and community recruiting strategy and budget to achieve hiring goals. Oversees all University and community full-time, internship, and ambassador hiring and programs. Designs, manages, and participates in all activities related to University and community recruiting; this includes selecting, registering and coordinating events, selecting/designing booth and marketing materials, posting positions, creating and delivering presentations, processing invoices, and selecting and coordinating team members. Works with Hiring Managers to design, create, and implement top internship programs and talent pipelines.

Builds Relationships/Sourcing

Researches and recommends which Colleges/Universities/programs CITY Furniture should actively recruit from. Maintains a strong candidate pipeline utilizing relationships with identified campus partners, Alumni Associations, identifies top talent and community partners that support the hiring strategy and drives our diversity initiatives. Builds and maintains strong relationships with Hiring Managers, effectively identifies and engages candidates. Uses resources, such as LinkedIn and other social media outlets, to maintain relationships with candidates and create a top employment brand reputation.

Administration 

Develops, manages, and monitors the University and Community Talent Acquisition budget. Plans and acquires all resources needs for events (i.e.: flyers, technology, presentations, signage, swag, travel, and accommodations). Understands and complies with company and government requirements related to recruiting, selection, and hiring. Actively uses the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) to track and record all candidates’ information.

Work Environment Summary

This position is required to work a flexible 40-50 hour work-week, Monday through Friday, in both a remote and in office environment. The position requires limited light lifting and is subject to some standing and walking for periods of time (job fairs, presentations, etc.).

This position requires the ability to travel up to 30%, with the majority of travel occurring during key University recruiting periods (Spring and Fall semesters), to selected colleges/universities based on business demand.

Reporting Structure

This position reports directly to the Managing Director of Talent Acquisition and is a member of the Human Resource and Development Department.

Financial Transaction Responsibilities

This position is responsible for approving financial transactions.

Decision Making Responsibilities

This position is responsible for hiring decisions and recommending talent for consideration of employment with the Company.

Job Requirements

Qualifications Required

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required

Work Experience

  • Proven track record of success in building strategies, networking, problem-solving, and identifying key relationships to proactively engage top talent to achieve goals.
  • 3+ years of experience in Recruiting, Sales, or a Leadership position
  • 2+ years of University recruitment experience

Computer Knowledge and Skills 

  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Forms, Slides)
  • Social Media (LinkedIn and others)
  • Use of an Applicant Tracking System (ATS) Perform

Perform Financial Transaction Activities

  • Ability to handle cash, checks, credit cards, etc. as needed to process invoices and related expenses
