Occupational Summary

The Sr. Manager of the Consumer Finance Program, will lead the strategic and tactical execution of CITY Furniture’s Private Label Credit Card (PLCC), secondary lenders, and tertiary lenders. The Sr. Manager of Consumer Finance will be responsible for maximizing guest approvals, increasing repeat purchases, and marketing to PLCC holders. This position will be responsible for driving growth in PLCC sales while planning and adhering to agreed upon finance budgets. The Sr. Manager of Consumer Finance will manage the relationships between our consumer financing lenders, credit card companies, and internal stakeholders. This associate must be a strong negotiator, possess effective leadership skills, be a strong communicator, and an innovative marketer.

This position collaborates with other Stakeholders including, but not limited to: Merchandising, Marketing, Creative, Development, IT, Sales, Customer Care, and external vendors.

Key Responsibilities

Daily Standard Work Activities/General Management

Conducts regular research to ensure the consumer finance program remains on the forefront of technological and industry trends (e.g. Gartner reports, attends webinars, etc.) and communicates findings to CMMO and other Stakeholders. Helps investigate, troubleshoot, and escalate issues as needed.  

  • Manages the finance terms offered for sale and ensures offerings are competitive in the market.  Negotiates with consumer finance lenders.  
  • Builds the "Finance" management system.  
  • Builds management system around consumer finance program including standard work, visual controls, audits, and KPI’s.
  • Maintains and builds relationships with key lenders.  

Reporting/Analysis - Identifies KPIs and creates reports to monitor and optimize. Analyzes performance and develops reporting, including finance dashboards.

Sales/Operations - Conducts showroom visits to speak with showroom leadership, consumer interactions, and sales persons about the finance program and their guest interactions. Audits third party finance sellers if applicable in the showrooms.

Marketing Promotions - Works with the marketing team to develop PLCC remarketing and retargeting programs with the goal of increasing repeat purchases. Works with Merchandising to gain approval on any promotional offers in conjunction with the card. Manages the finance terms offered for sale and ensures offerings are competitive in the market.

Reporting Structure

This position reports directly to the Chief Marketing & Merchandising Officer and is a member of the Marketing Department.

Financial Transaction Responsibilities This position has the ability to negotiate pricing, incentives, and rebates related to the consumer financing program. Partnership agreements must be signed by CMMO.

Decision Making Responsibilities This position is responsible for the day-to-day management of the consumer finance program and development of the strategic roadmap to scale it.

Work Environment Summary

This position is required to work a 45-hour work week Monday through Friday in a hybrid remote/corporate office environment. Occasional early morning hours, late evenings, and weekends may be required to conduct special projects. Travel to showrooms throughout the company’s trading area and to vendor company’s headquarters is routine, further travel visits to network with other similar retailers would be expected as well but less frequent. Travel to each of our showrooms one time per month for finance visits with the showroom management is part of the job and will be expected to take 4-5 days per month.

Job Requirements

Qualifications Required Education  

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or Accounting.

Work Experience  

  • Three (3) + years of experience with a Consumer Finance company or working on the retail side of a consumer finance program.  
  • Experience with PLCC from the lender or retailer side.
  • Strong analytical skills to guide business strategy decisions.
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills, strong attention to detail, strong written and oral communication skills: including presentation and interview skills, strong organizing and planning skills with proven ability to multi-task, analysis and problem-solving skills, negotiation skills, and an ability to work with minimal direction and supervision.  
  • Demonstrated ability to organize workload, multitask, think analytically, solve technical problems, and establish relationships across business and IT/development team members.
  • Must be a self-starter showing a high level of initiative. Positive "can-do" attitude.  
  • High energy and outgoing individual.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment sharing ideas, workflow, technologies, and processes.
