Job Description

We have wonderful opportunity to join City Furniture's Corporate team as a Senior Accountant.

The Senior Accountant will perform month-end close activities, analyze and verify financial information, prepare internal financial reports, provide information to the field, reconcile, and review GL accounts.


Month End Close Function 

  • Prepare journal entries and reconciliations to account for financial activity of designated accounts on a monthly basis.
  • Ensure accounting is complete, accurate, GAAP-compliant and well documented.
  • Prepare and maintain timely and accurate financial reporting

Accounting Support

  • Support Controller in support functions such as ad hoc reporting, special projects, customer deposit maintenance.
  • Commercial sales/business, customer deposit file maintenance,
  • Ashley ecommerce business activity and annual audits
  • Capture and obtain as well as analyze large amounts of data from multiple sources in order to consolidate, develop into schedules, share with external vendors, etc.
  • Assist with quarterly and annual audit preparation for external auditors

Fixed Asset Management

  • Maintain fixed asset records in SAGE Fixed Asset Accounting System including assigning useful lives in accordance with Company policy.
  • Prepare monthly schedules and other fixed asset monthly accounting workpapers

Company Meetings 

  • Attend daily department ultimate update standup meetings, annual company events, IDP meetings and meeting related to the role.

Job Requirements

Education - Bachelors of Science or Arts in Accounting, Masters’ Degree in Accounting is a "plus" but not required.

License & Certification Required - Certified Public Accounting (CPA) License is a "plus" but not required.

Work Experience - 3 or more years’ experience in public and/or private accounting. 

Computer Knowledge and Skills - Below is the list of the computer programs and software applications that are required for this position:

  • Strong Analytical Skills
  • Microsoft Office - (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point)
  • FAS Fixed Asset Accounting a plus, but not required
  • Enterprise QuickBooks skills are a plus but not required
