We have a wonderful opportunity to join our growing CITY Furniture Family as part of the Office of Strategy Management team. This position works closely with legal counsel on a variety of legal issues affecting the business as well as assisting with the litigation portfolio.  Main duties include, but are not limited to: conducting legal research, preparing and organizing various legal documents, discussing case details with attorneys, working with outside legal firms, interacting with internal clients, capturing and tracking legal demand, and providing administrative support to the legal team.

This position will work specifically with Workers’ Compensation claims, Employment claims, Immigration matters, and Circuit Civil and Small Claims cases.  Must be highly organized and task oriented, and be able to work independently in a time-sensitive environment. As a Paralegal in a corporate office environment this role will work with all departments in the organization to coordinate legal case management and internal legal requests efficiently and cost effectively. This position is required to work a 40hour work week that mirrors the court schedule Monday thru Friday 8AM to 5PM in a blended work-from-home and corporate office environment, based on business and safety needs. The position requires limited light lifting.

The Paralegal reports to the Director of Legal Operations and is a member of the Office of Strategy Management Department.

Job Requirements

Qualifications Required

Education -

  • Paralegal certification preferred.
  • Minimum of Associates Degree in Paralegal studies preferred (Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred)
  • Notary public preferred
  • Bi-lingual preferred

Work Experience -

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Legal Field in workers compensation and/or civil litigation specifically.

Computer Knowledge and Skills - Below is the list of the computer programs and software applications that are required for this position:

  • Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
  • Working experience in case management systems (Aderant Total Office, etc.)
