The primary function of the Interior E-Commerce Designer with CITY Furniture is to communicate virtually with customers to help inspire, visualize, and create their dream living space using a wide range of available products in every style. The Interior E-commerce Designer will have ownership of the design process from introduction to the client until project completion. This position is responsible for creating impactful designs that capture and promote the CITY Furniture vision and help increase the overall revenue of online sales.

Work Environment Summary

This position is required to work a flexible 40-hour work week, Monday through Sunday, virtually / remote with weekend and evening work.

 Key Responsibilities

 Design Project Development - Develops design concepts for customers, develops technical solutions, and evaluates budget in correlation to the design intent and customer’s expectations. Consults with customers to gather project requirements and prepares all mood boards. Selects colors, furniture, accessories, and staging items. Makes recommendation to customer based on project needs. Designs projects on their own and collaborates with other designers on staff. Extremely knowledgeable of brand styles and trends and inventory. Researches and provides sources for solutions and design inspirations. Documents and communicates all updates and specifications per Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). Volunteers ideas as to how to streamline processes and provide more value for customers.

Account Management - Manages customer relationships. Fields requests from customer to ensure designs are to customer’s satisfaction. Processes invoices and arranges delivery. Follows up with customers via email and phone. Prospects for new customers. Utilizes new technologies to enhance the customer experience, including but not limited to live chat, and video conferencing.

Operating System & Documentation - Flags problems to team and thinks through countermeasures. Attends daily meetings and participates when needed. Completes start of shift and end of shift duties. Documents all project details and key metrics to ensure progress of the program.

Budgeting - Ensures all City and Ashley furniture products are invoiced accurately and in stock. Reads assigned budget and tabulates selections while designing. Ensures all projects are within or under budget. Shares information about sales, offers, and deals with customers to encourage purchase.

Financial Transaction Responsibilities

This Interior E-Commerce Designer is responsible for processing financial transactions from customers over the phone.

Decision Making Responsibilities

This Interior E-Commerce Designer is responsible for making decisions regarding design and décor of homes and budgets. This role is also responsible for consulting with others to make decisions regarding changing design intent and deviating from standardized processes and procedures.

Job Requirements

 Education - Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design or a similar field (Preferred) Work Experience

  • One (1) year of experience in Customer Service or Sales is preferred.
  • Must have experience creating mood boards, layouts, and/or SketchUps.

Computer Knowledge and Skills - Below is the list of the computer skills, programs and software applications that are required for this position:

  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides
  • Advanced typing skills and impeccable grammar
  • Knowledge of basic keyboard shortcuts
