City Furniture is currently seeking a Fleet Inspector for our Distribution Center. The primary function of the Fleet Inspector is to keep the various sub-departments running efficiently and safely by ensuring the necessary equipment and supplies are functioning.  The Fleet Inspector is responsible for recording damages to vehicles. The Fleet Inspector ensures damages are reported, vehicles are fully operational, and aids service technicians in dealing with damages and leftover debris.

Work Environment Summary

This position is required to work a flexible 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday nights and weekends, in a large non-air-conditioned Distribution Center (warehouse). This position requires working in inclement weather. Prolonged periods walking, standing, and stepping up and stepping down from a vehicle are required. Must work with cleaning chemicals while sanitizing the trucks. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs at a time.

  • Inspects the exterior of the truck for any new damages.
  • Inspects tires to ensure they are fully operational.
  • Inspects lights including box lights, back-up lights, reverse lights, tag lights, head lights, and dome light.
  • Listens for audible back up alarm.
  • Instructs Service Technicians where to park vehicles that have issues.
  • Performs minor repairs such as changing light bulbs, windshield wiper blades, mud flaps, etc.
  • Drives and moves trucks to the fueling line.
  • Issues Department of Transportation (DOT) post-walkaround inspection sheet.
  • Compares pre-walkaround inspection sheet to post-inspection sheet for accuracy and consistency.
  • Files pre- and post-walkaround inspection sheets.
  • Ensures Service Technicians remove any debris or trash left inside the vehicle.
  • When required, cleans and sanitizes the inside cab of each vehicle.

Job Requirements

Education

High School/GED High School Equivalent

Work Experience

  • Minimum of (2) years' experience working in a maintenance position.
  • Minimum of (2) years' experience working in a warehouse environment.
  • Experience working safely with chemicals.

Certifications and Licensure

  • Valid Class E Florida Driver’s License - NO CDL REQUIRED.
