What This Opportunity Is…

As a Cloud Architect, the primary function of this position is designing, implementing, and managing CITY Furniture’s cloud computing platform. Cloud Architect will play a critical role in aligning cloud solutions with business goals, ensuring scalability, security, and cost-efficiency. Your contributions will ensure the success of the Technology department at CITY Furniture.

 

Position Title: Cloud Architect

Reports To:     Cloud Services Senior Manager

Location:         Fully Remote or Hybrid (preferred)/Tamarac or Plant City Corporate Offices

Department/Sub-Department: Technology/ Technology Services

Salary: $130,000 - $140,000

 

What You’ll Do*…

As a Cloud Architect your primary responsibilities will be:

  • Defining and maintaining CITY’s Cloud Strategy: Create and execute a comprehensive cloud adoption plan tailored to CITY’s objectives, including migration strategies for migrating our existing cloud deployments to be best in class and conform to well architected designs.
  • Architecture Design: Design scalable, secure, and resilient cloud architectures for our Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure (Microsoft 365) and IBM Cloud platforms.
  • Service Selection and Implementation: Evaluate and select appropriate cloud services (e.g., compute, storage, databases, networking) and third-party providers based on technical and business requirements. Once selected, oversee the deployment of these services to ensure smooth integration with existing systems.
  • Performance Optimization: Monitor cloud infrastructure performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize for cost, efficiency, and reliability.
  • Security and Compliance: Incorporate security best practices (e.g., identity and access management, encryption) and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Documentation and Mentorship : Document architectural designs, configurations, and processes while providing guidance to junior team members on cloud best practices.

Additional duties and responsibilities as a Cloud Architect:

  • Continuous Improvements : Stay updated on emerging cloud technologies, tools, and trends to continuously improve the environment while recommending new solutions.
  • Adhere to all assigned Standard Work and Role and Responsibilities for your role.

What’s Required…

  • Education & Work Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field or equivalent work experience in a relevant field.
    • 5 or more years working in cloud environments like AWS.
      • 2 years of which should be working in a design / leadership capacity.
    • Work Environment & Schedule:
      • Monday through Friday
      • This role requires participation in an on-call rotation for supporting services, covering nights, weekends, and holidays as needed for one week at a time.
      • If working remotely, travel to Tamarac Corporate office once per quarter for special events and training.
      • Attend yearly conferences such as AWS re:Invent to represent CITY furniture.
      • ~2-5% of Travel
    • Physical Requirements:
      • Prolonged sitting at a desk.
    • Technology Requirements:
      • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs (i.e. Excel, Word, and Outlook, etc.)
      • Google Suite (i.e. Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.)
      • Deep understanding of AWS services such as EKS, EC2, ECR, S3, CloudWatch, Lambdas, VPCs, CloudFront, WAF, Savings Plans, RIs, Load Balancers, RDS, and IAM
      • Understanding of AWS Billing and FinOps.
      • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 platform is a plus.
      • Understanding of Linux operating systems preferred.
      • Knowledge of scripting languages (BASH, PowerShell, etc.) for task automation and management.
      • Understand security best practices and the ability to implement security measures within our cloud environment.
      • Basic understanding of networking interoperability between service providers.
      • Disaster Recovery and business continuity for cloud environments.
      • IBM Cloud and Azure experience a plus.
      • Git, Bitbucket, and Jenkins experience a plus
    • Certifications / Licenses
      • Valid Driver’s license.
      • AWS certified Solutions Architect – Professional
      • Nice to have:
        • AWS Certified Security – Specialty
        • AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty
        • AWS Certified Data Engineer – Associate
      • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate a plus
