Job Description

We have a wonderful opportunity to join our CITY Furniture Marketing Department. As the Communications Specialist, the primary function of this position is to support the growth and shaping of CITY Furniture’s reputation and brand through external communications strategies as well as internal communications via employee engagement strategies. This position will support the planning and execution of all internal and external communications flows.

This position is also responsible for working with the Senior Communications Manager to coordinate media coverage, prepare press releases, manage PR stakeholder relationships and public appearances and respond to media inquiries. This role will own the management of internal employee communications through the use of our employee engagement app.

This role will liaise with internal/external stakeholders, e.g., social media team members, other corporate and field cross functional departments, external advertising and PR agencies, members of the media, business partners, etc. to ensure all parties are informed and aligned on efforts, and ensure media opportunities and PR activations are executed flawlessly.

This position consults with the Senior Communications Manager to schedule and prepare budgets, press releases, and press/promotional content and materials.

Key Responsibilities:

PR Campaign Coordination - Works with the Senior Communications Manager to apply creative thinking to the identification of industry trends and newsworthy stories. Works with the social media and digital teams to develop social media campaigns to support events and initiatives. Prepares media lists, press releases, statements, social media copy for press related content, award and sponsorship submissions, and other PR promotional materials as needed at the direction of the Senior Communications Manager. Takes on additional writing duties within the broader communications function as needed.

Press Event and Activation Coordination - Coordinates press event and activation logistics and public appearances for executive leadership. Adheres to timelines for PR deliverables, surfaces issues and acts as first line of defense for quality control. Maintains a professional presence on site and works with Senior Communications Manager to ensures all press events are executed flawlessly.

PR Performance Reporting and Documentation - Tracks communications activities, articles and campaign performance. Maintains a database of press coverage and circulating positive press coverage internally.

Exhibits diligence about reporting earned coverage and analytics from communications campaigns back to internal stakeholders. Compiles and presents monthly, quarterly, and annual PR campaign reporting. Presents PR campaign performance results to key stakeholders.

Job Requirements

Qualifications Required

Education - Bachelor’s Degree with a focus on advertising, marketing or communications preferred.

Work Experience and Skills -

  • Minimum two (2) years experience in PR, Social or Traditional Media or Marketing Communications is required
  • Experience at an agency or regional/national brand preferred.

Computer Knowledge -

  • Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)

Certification or Licensure Requirements -

  • Valid Driver’s License Required
