At City Furniture your career development includes a comprehensive orientation program customized for each department so that you will become acclimated to your work area.
Additionally, all associates are invited to attend a one day New Hire Orientation session at our corporate campus in Tamarac, FL. Every new associate spends a full day touring the campus and learning about our values, our culture, our brand and our purpose -- essentially learning who we are as a family, how we all work together to deliver on our promise to our clients and continue our path as the #1 furniture retailer in Southeast and Southwest Florida.
During orientation, each associate learns about expectations and opportunities available to them through our Center for Excellence. From associates working in Operations to Sales, or Customer Service to the Corporate Office, each associate receives a development plan specific to their role and the road-map they need to follow in order to advance in their career.
The Center for Excellence is our talent management division and is responsible for recruiting, training and developing all of our associates. We foster a blended approach to learning that includes instructor-led training, on the job training, as well as self-paced computer based training modules.
New associates will receive structured, specific job training facilitated by their manager, or a designated expert within their work area and department. In addition to the initial job specific training, ongoing training development occurs every day, all throughout the year as associates receive targeted training related to new initiatives that enhance their job.
And, for those associates interested in pursuing leadership positions within the company, we offer leadership development programs that provide them with the knowledge and skills necessary for successfully leading, coaching and developing others.
For those associates interested in pursuing their education, City Furniture also offers a tuition reimbursement program which offers assistance up to $3,000 for undergraduate coursework and up to $4,000 for graduate coursework as well as reimbursement for up to 50% of textbook costs on a yearly basis.
In addition to the training offered through the Center for Excellence, associates are encouraged to utilize our lending library, consisting of the most current books and audio tapes that support personal and professional development growth.
